  1. I just went through an integration POC using node js bitpay sdk. The documentation is already a bang average one and not upto standards I wanted.
First red flag started when I used my business account to receive payments and didn’t receive anyv crypto in my receiver address from same wallet still it’s on hold for settlement(Even reached minimum settlement which is set at 20$ USD).
Second red flag is dead slow or non existent customer service of their product.
Third red flag is I’m visiting this site after a recommendation from my workplace pal & reading how bitpay is simply a scam site with working blockchain.
Safety precaution: Never trust any crypto payment provider and start using testnet feature at first for testing crypto payment & Never spend your original crytocurrency with this kind of gateways.
I used my bitcoin testnet wallet to check first and then saw the state of customer support in this awful scammers site & decided to learn more about this in trustpilot.

  2. Bitpay is not very trustworthy, I downloaded the app and decided to transfer some little funds to my bitpay wallet as a trial, I transferred 29.1 busd from my binance and it left my binance safely but never arrived in my bitpay busd wallet.

The transaction is marked successfull on the polygon scan with

Almost 6 hours had gone by so I decided to send a request to the bitpay support on the app and I’ve still not heard from them.

I feel this is really messed up

  3. DO NOT use Bitpay to settle real-world invoices.

    Why not?

*they have a 1% transaction fee
*they have no anonymity (they require a photo ID and a facial scan)
*they have zero customer service (no email, no phone number, and no online chat!), except for their ticket system which can take days or a week for a response
*they have an archaic settlement system – if you somehow underpay an invoice by even a penny or by the exchange transaction fee, they will fail the payment, and may take days to refund your crypto! (which is fluctuating by the hour)

I went through all of this and lost ~$1500 in crypto because of these issues, so learn from my experience!

  4. When you underpay your transaction, for example due to exchange fees, Bitpay will offer only refund not another transaction to cover remaining amount. What’s funny – refund fee was more than twice as large as fee from my exchange. So I paid 0.0005 BTC fee for 1st transaction, then for refund I paid 0.0011 BTC and another 0.0005 BTC for another transaction to fix my mistake. Instead it could be 2 x 0.005 BTC transactions.

  5. We used Bitpay as a merchant for a few years and were generally pretty happy with them.

However, when we started to re-structure our payment systems and decided to integrate APIs instead of using hosted checkout pages Bitpay told us that they changed their policies and do not support/allow this anymore. This ultimately forced us to leave Bitpay.
